Theofrastos Sakellaridis\u2019 operetta The Godson (Vaftistikos) was brought back again in 2016 by the Greek National Opera. The hilarious traditional stage direction, is by the theatrical director Simos Kakalas.<\/p>\n
The impressive melodic wealth of the operetta, the libretto\u2019s humour and the way in which the work captured an entire age are key elements which have ensured that The Godson has remained popular down through the ages. Sakellaridis managed to combine a libretto with an interesting plot and constant comic twists with cheerful, melodic tunes.<\/p>\n
The story narrates a series of misunderstandings that arise when Petros Harmidis, a solider at the front and spouse of Kiki, decides to dress up as the godchild of Vivika. She hasn\u2019t seen him since he was a little child and doesn\u2019t remember him.
